Sensory aware therapy
Sensory aware therapy
Our sensory system involves our organs taking in information from the outside world and our internal world. This information is then processed together by the brain, to enable us to make sense of our experiences and our environment. Every person has a unique sensory system, which develops from birth through childhood.
For some people, sensations are received and processed in a way that causes them have an increased or decreased sensitivity to stimulus. This impacts their functioning in daily life.
Occupational therapy assists individuals to develop knowledge of their own sensory profile and strategies that will enable them to be most comfortable in daily life.
